In honor of Día de los Muertos, I bring you this piece from the Ephemeralia Series. I met a model for Albuquerque named Stephanie Landers in 2007 and we worked together for a couple of days. She was sharp witted and energetic and sparked a change in my work. I’d been experimenting with oil and basically copying my pastel work, locked into the same style. Stephane helped me break the bounds of the “pretty” picture and allow myself to do something raw and emotional. The Visceralia Series came directly from our session and was the starting point for Connective-Tissue.
