"My work explores the connection between the artist and the model, the energy exchanged between the two. It's about emotional response, tactile, visceral, abstract, created with a limited color palette, leaving the brush strokes and drips raw and unrefined. It's as much a conversation as a picture, a snapshot of emotion, a thread running between the observer and the observed. Connective Tissue."

Fascia No.1 Oil on Canvas 12" x 24"

The first painting in the Fascia series is actually three layers and six painting in one. The base is a sketch done at Hipbone Studio during the longterm pose. The second is the torsos of my friend Amanda during a session at my studio. The final layer s from Todd Leninger’s, a long term pose with Laurel. This is the foirst time that I used tape and layered on of my triptychs. This was a three hour add on pose with only a few other painters in the studio. I moved from left to right, painting three different views of Laurel’s face. I like the results, it’s strange how the gestural lines on the base line up with the facial contours.
