"My work explores the connection between the artist and the model, the energy exchanged between the two. It's about emotional response, tactile, visceral, abstract, created with a limited color palette, leaving the brush strokes and drips raw and unrefined. It's as much a conversation as a picture, a snapshot of emotion, a thread running between the observer and the observed. Connective Tissue."

Lighthouse on the Oregon Coast

LighthouseI painted this on a sunny day in July on the Oregon coast. Odd thing about the beach, it’s colder that I thought it would be. I grew up in the south where the beach is hot and the water is warm. That’s not the vase in the Pacific Northwest, though I did get a nice sunburn to keep me toasty.

My friend Quin Sweetman introduced my to Erik Sandgren’s painting group, thanks Quin for a great experience.

  1. I still love this painting of yours! Very Hopperesque! The beach was much warmer when you were there with us. :)

    Thanks Quin,

I would never have made it without you and your sugar cane buddy.
