One of my favorite part of a painting session is the gesture stage, the warm up exercise at the beginning. Julie and I worked together over several sessions, this is from an afternoon at my studio in Portland. I had a large olive green sofa with big wooden arms that made a perfect ground for painting. This is the last gesture of the day, very loose and ambiguous. I couldn’t help just leaving it alone.
